I would like to let people know that is a reality for many of the underpaid Disney employees as they can’t afford housing on their salaries
So Disney has apartment buildings it buys to rent cheaply to their employees
And I’m sure you can imagine the level of control Disney has over you when they control your employment and your housing
Originally it was just for the college program employees (like me) but got expanded to being available to all employees
Now I don’t know how it is with the full time employees, but if you were a college employee and you got “termed?” (Disney loves alternative language to control their employees, see being a ‘cast member on stage’ vs an employee at work). After being termed you had 24 hours to move out
Now, guess how well that worked for 19 year olds from Ohio who have nowhere to sleep and no way to get home
I knew a guy who had two “strikes” against him (calling out of work gets points against you, 3 points get you a strike) that had been waved as he had good reasons to miss those days. He then made a comment his supervisor didn’t like so she reversed the strikes being waved and gave him the third one for his comment. He then had to call his parents at 2 am to tell them he was now homeless in Orlando. Imagine if your boss could evict you for talking back
Now imagine you’re one of the many semi retired employees trying to stay afloat through their 70s, or the many employees who are recent immigrants, or who are parents of kids, or anyone else without a lot of work or housing options
Think of the shit they’d be able to do to you if losing your job meant immediately losing housing because your boss owns your home
Think of how much leverage that gives against the unions when your workers aren’t even secure from their employer in their home, where union dues paying for you to not work can’t save you from eviction because your boss decides if you get to live there

people using the situations of decreased accessibility of healthcare to trans youth in various states/countries to be like “minors in [area] if you need help message me!” weirds me out a lot. theres a Lot of people doing it too.
i dont want minors following me but on the off chance any teenager sees this lol Do Not take people up on that. in any situation. if you are in a predicament and you need serious help you should be looking for organizations meant to help vulnerable youth, and/or your personal family and social network/otherwise trusted adults, and not randos on tumblr.
its not even just a “they might have bad intentions” thing necessarily but they should know better lol. and yes absolutely be wary of anyone positioning themselves as a lifeline for vulnerable groups of children, especially in a private one on one capacity
The worse this situation in Ukraine is getting the more i hate the jokes americans make about it. All of those “vladdy look at me this isn’t u 🥺” “not me living through ww3” and “i don’t wanna get drafted” jokes are just in bad taste to me. If it were my country, i would not want people to joke about it this way.
And i see so many of them go “well we use humor to cope” literally from what? What do you need to cope from? The traumatic event of watching the news and seeing footage of something that’s happening hundreds of miles away from you? That’s no different from any other war that’s been happening over the last two decades though. Wars that America has very much been involved in. So why is this different to you? Because “white” countries are involved now?
Before you joke think about what you’re saying. American teens and young adults are probably as far removed from this conflict as can be, which is why you find it so easy to joke about this. I have also seen brits and other west europeans make jokes so ofc americans aren’t the only ones, but you are the majority. I have yet to see east europeans make jokes though. Why? Because they realize how serious this situation is and jokes don’t help.
Meanwhile Ukrainians have to sit and watch their land be invaded. They are losing their homes. I stand with Ukraine 💙💛

2. if you want to get information, do not look for carrds or twt threads. turn on your tv, read a newspaper, look for journalists and officials. do not trust random internet users and do not spread the disinformation and propaganda that is already circulating around here. double check every account you see talking about what’s happening before deciding to share it further.
